Bible Study with Cross

Holy Trinity offers several opportunities to participate in a Catholic Bible Study. If you have wanted to study and pray with Scripture, consider joining one of the following groups.  Most groups meet in the Spiritual Life Center.  Each group selects its own study materials.  Below you will find the study themes and dates planned for the spring of 2017.

Sunday morning – 9:45 – 10:45 AM in the Adult Formation Rooms
Live Lent! Is a small group weekly gathering to read and discuss next Sunday’s Gospel and its roots in the Old testament.  Participants are challenged each day of the following week with a daily meditation and a challenge to live out you’re their faith.  Cost is $10 per book.  Facilitators are Susan Means and Eunice McGuire.  Dates for the weekly gatherings are February 26, March 5, 12, 19, and 26, April 2 and 9.
 
Wednesday morning – 9 – 11 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance is an 8 part study centered on Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians.  This letter reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church.  We learn about the nature of the Church through images such as: a body, a household, a mystery, a communion, a bride, and an army. We hear of the great inheritance that awaits us as sons and daughters of God.  Dates are January 18 – March 29, with the exception of March 5 (Ash Wednesday). Facilitator is Kathy Fehder. Study guides are available for $20 each.
 
Wednesday evening – 7 – 8:30 PM in the Spiritual Life Center
Isaiah 40-55: Build a Highway for God - The book of Isaiah contains some of the most beautiful prophetic verses in the Old Testament, but what is its real purpose? In Isaiah 40-55: Build a Highway for God, the greatest of prophets proclaims the coming deliverance of God's people. Dates are January  4, 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8,15, and 22.  Cost is $8 per study guide. Facilitator is Renae Riley.
 
Thursday morning – 9:30 – 11 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
Catholicism: The Pivotal Players, Part 1 – Bishop Robert Barron’s series on remarkable historical figures who shaped the Church: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena, Bl. John Henry Newman, G.K. Chesterton and Michelangelo.  A study guide is available for $20 for those who wish to participate in the group study portion of this presentation.  The DVD portion of each session is about 25-30 min. long.  Dates are January 5, 12, 19, and 27, February 2, 9, 16 and 23, March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. Facilitators are Sarah Hardy and Mary Feger.
 
Saturday mornings – 8 – 9:30 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
Epic: A Journey Through Church History - This 20-part DVD series takes you through the major people, places, and events that make up the history of the Catholic Church. See the glory of the Church founded by Christ and understand where you fit into this Epic story. The sections dealing with persecution will be viewed April 8, 22, 29, and May 7.

 

If you do not have time to join a formal study, there are Catholic CDs , DVDs and books available for you to purchase on a number of topics.  These can be found in  the information area of the gathering space.
