Bible Study with Cross

Holy Trinity offers several opportunities to participate in a Catholic Bible Study. If you have wanted to study and pray with Scripture, consider joining one of the following groups.  Most groups meet in the Spiritual Life Center.  Each group selects its own study materials.  Below you will find the study themes and dates planned for the winter/spring of 2018.

Sunday morning – 9:45 – 10:45 AM in the Adult Formation Rooms
Title of study TBA.  This group usually chooses a book from the series Six Weeks with the Bible.  The cost of each book is $8.  Facilitators are Susan Means and Eunice Maguire.  For winter 2018, this group plans a Lenten study.  Dates are 2/11 thru 3/25.
Monday afternoon- 12:30-2:30 PM in the Spritual Life Center
Catholicism: The Pivotal Players, Part I continues – Bishop Robert Barron’s series on remarkable historical figures who shaped the Church: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena, Bl. John Henry Newman, G.K. Chesterton and Michelangelo.  A study guide is available for $15 for those who wish to participate in the group study portion of this presentation.  The DVD portion of each session is about 25-30 minutes long.  Facilitator is Rachel Schrepferman.  Dates are 2/5, 2/12, 2/ 26, 3/5,  3/12,  3/19, and 3/26.
Wednesday morning – 9 – 11 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
This group will be doing the Catholic Way Bible Study with Livinia Spirito on the Gospel of Luke.  This study examines themes such as joy and the Holy Spirit, prayer, the role of women, the salvation of the Gentiles, and the deep influence of the Old Testament.  Accompany Jesus on his long journey to Jerusalem through his Passion and Resurrection. CWBS are generally between 22-25 lessons in length and have written and DVD components. The cost is $28 for materials.  Facilitator is Kathy Fehder.  Dates are 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25.
Wednesday evening – 7 – 8:30 PM in the Spiritual Life Center
David the King, Bishop Robert Barron’s newest study is the topic for this 6 week study.  David is the paradigmatic king in the Old Testament. Bishop Barron helps you understand this pivotal figure in the light of the first king (Adam) and the King of Kings, Jesus the Messiah.  The cost to participate is $20 per participant guide.  Facilitator is Renae Riley.  Dates are : 1/3, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, and 2/7. 
Thursday morning – 9:30 – 11 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
This group will be continuing their Catholic Way Bible Study with Livinia Spirito on the Gospel of Matthew.  Matthew presents Jesus as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah.  His words and actions show a power and authority greater than any before him and lay the very foundations of his Church.  Cost is $20 for materials.  Facilitators are Mary Feger and Sarah Hardy.  Dates are 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, /3/15, 3/22, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/3, 5/10.
Saturday mornings – 8 – 9:30 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance is an 8 part study centered on Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians.  This letter reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church.  You will learn about the nature of the Church through images such as: a body, a household, a mystery, a communion, a bride, and an army.   Hear of the great inheritance that awaits you as a son or daughter of God.  Cost is $20 for the study guide.  Facilitators are Kathy Aschbacher, Loretta Aberli, and Susan Means.  Dates are 1/6, 1/13, 1/ 27,  2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 3/3 and 3/10.

If you do not have time to join a formal study, there are Catholic CDs , DVDs and books available for you to purchase on a number of topics.  These can be found in  the information area of the gathering space.
