Bible Study with Cross

Holy Trinity offers several opportunities to participate in a Catholic Bible Study. If you have wanted to study and pray with Scripture, consider joining one of the following groups.  Most groups meet in the Spiritual Life Center.  Each group selects its own study materials.  Below you will find the study themes and dates planned for the fall of 2017.

Sunday morning – 9:45 – 10:45 AM in the Adult Formation Rooms
Psalms: An Invitation to Prayer is a six week study that will help participants pray with honest and open communication to God using the Psalms as an example.  This study will be followed immediately by another six week study, Psalms II: Praying with Jesus which will look at six psalms that played an important role in Jesus’ life.  The cost is $16 for both study books.  Facilitators are Susan Means and Eunice McGuire.  Dates for the gatherings are September 10, 17, 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19, and 26.
Monday afternoon- 12:30-2:30 PM in the Spritual Life Center
Catholicism: The Pivotal Players, Part 1 – Bishop Robert Barron’s series on remarkable historical figures who shaped the Church: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena, Bl. John Henry Newman, G.K. Chesterton and Michelangelo.  A study guide is available for $15 for those who wish to participate in the group study portion of this presentation.  The DVD portion of each session is about 25-30 min. long.  Facilitator is Rachel Schrepferman.  Dates are 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/30, 11/6.
Wednesday morning – 9 – 11 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
Wisdom: God’s Vision for Life – Scripture and the tradition of the Catholic Church provide an abundance of wisdom, though it can be chalenging to apply it to our lives.  Drawing on the wisdom literature of the Bible – Proverbs, Wisdom, Sirach, and Ecclesiastes – this 8 week study will help you actively seek out guidance and increase your dense of peace in navigating life.  Cost per participant is $25.  Facilitator os Kathy Fehder.  Dates are 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/8 and 11/15.
Wednesday evening – 7 – 8:30 PM in the Spiritual Life Center
Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance is an 8 part study centered on Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians.  This letter reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church.  We learn about the nature of the Church through images such as: a body, a household, a mystery, a communion, a bride, and an army. We hear of the great inheritance that awaits us as sons and daughters of God.  Cost is $20 for the study guide.  Facilitator is Renae Riley.  Dates are September 6, 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15, 22.
Thursday morning – 9:30 – 11 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
This group will be doing the Catholic Way Bible Study with Livinia Spirito on the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew presents Jesus as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah. His words and actions show a power and authority greater than any before Him and lay the very foundations of His Church.  Cost is $20 for materials. Facilitators are Mary Feger and Sarah Hardy. Dates are August 17, 24, 31, September 7, 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, and November 2, 9,16, 30, and December 7 and 14.
Saturday mornings – 8 – 9:30 AM in the Spiritual Life Center
This group will be studying First Corinthians, an eleven week study by Ascension Press. The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians.  Paul’s letter to the Corinthians introduces key elements about the nature of grace, the Church as the Body of Christ, and the gift of the Eucharist as ways to overcome division, immorality, persecution, and other trials.  Cost is $20 per study guide.  Facilitators are Kathy Aschbacher, Loretta Aberli, and Susan Means.  Dates are September 16, 23, 20, October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4, 11, 18, December 2 and 9.
