Young Adult Ministry
The spiritual and social needs of Young Adults aged 18-39 are more and more apparent to the Church! In an effort to address them, we will partner with other parish and Archdiocesan ministers and groups. If you are interested in attending, planning, or brainstorming please contact Ilana.
Offered to those who will be 18-35 years old by July ‘08 World Youth Day will be an amazing faith filled experience! If you’re a parent who yearns to spend some quality time with your high school student, learn about your faith, and wants to see a koala, you are welcomed too!
We will be traveling with members of the St. Raphael Parish to Australia for a pilgrimage to meet the Holy Father and thousands of young Catholics from around the world! It will be a truly amazing time.

* July 12-21, 2008
* Air transport from Louisville to Sydney
* 3 Star hotel accommodations based on double occupancy with en suite bath
* Full Buffet Breakfast each day
* Four Dinners (excluding beverages)
* Meal vouchers for lunches and dinners while attending the conference

* All WYD activities plus four days of sightseeing

The Cathedral of the Assumption
invites young adults from across the diocese to attend the Saturday 5:30 pm liturgy on October 27, 2007. Members of MOSAIC, the young adult group at the Cathedral, will be available after the liturgy to discuss opportunities for involvement in the group. A social gathering will follow the Mass.

Filmmaker Morgan Atkinson will be on hand in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall (1960 Bardstown Road) to field questions and to screen his latest project, Soul Searching, a documentary about the late Thomas Merton.

Visual artist
Dan Rhema will exhibit his amazing paintings and found-art sculptures in the St. Fancis of Assisi Spirituality Center (1960 Bardstown Road) and will attempt to speak about the ineffable near-death experience that led him to create his art.

Church historian Joseph Martos will facilitate a session in the St. Fancis of Assisi Spirituality Center (1960 Bardstown Road) on realistic expectations for marriage given our ever-changing social realities.

Join us for an inter-faith event at the Passionist Earth & Spirit Center (aka "The Barn" at St. Anes 1924 Newburg Rd.). International scholar David Loy will lead a discussion on Buddhism and social ethics.
Events to look forward to (dates and details to be announced):
- Jewish scholar Stanley Rosenbaum will speak on the prophets and the biblical roots of social justice.
- Father Frank Brawner, a gregarious young priest from the diocese of Lexington, will offer “An Idiot’s Guide to Church History.”
- Activist and Glenmary priest, John Rausch will give two presentations. One on environmental justice in light of the current ecological crisis; and another on eating as a moral act.
- Wine Importer Christopher Webb will offer a walk through the history of wine including its sacramental usage. There will be a tasting for folks 21+.
- Author and Professor Donald Nugent will lead a discussion on Christian mysticism.
- Author and retreat director Jonathon Montaldo will facilitate “Choosing to love the world: approaches to contemplative living.”
- EWTN personality Father Mitch Pacwa will be on hand October 4, 2008 for 3 sessions and Mass. More details to follow.
